3rd ANNUAL
D'NI ST. PATRICK'S PARADE AND PARTY MARCH 17, 2007 1PM EDT TO BE HELD IN MO-UL !!!!!

I'm beginning the plans for the third annual D'ni St. Pats parade to be held this year in UruLive. Many of you have participated in the past but many have not. The 1st was held on Tapestry Event Shard, the 2nd on D'Mala and now the 3rd will be held on MO-UL. As I've said during the last two St. Pat's events...."You don't have to be Irish to wear green." It's a great event, lots of fun and a wonderful way to celebrate UruLive. So get out the green and get ready for a really huge event. It may seem a bit early to begin the plans but believe me it takes alot of time and work. If you plan on participating, you'll need alot of practice with marching, just ask anyone who's done it in the past two parades...I will try to set up people to help you with your practice if needed.

Right now I'm in the planning stages...I will pretty much be following the plans from last years notes with a few modifications. Right now I'm looking for volunteers to help plan the event. Please PM me here ASAP if you would like to help with the planning and when we have enough help, I'll schedule a meeting to go over the plans...

Thanks everyone.....

3. JÄHRLICHE
D'NI ST.

Danke euch allen...

Bild3rd ANNUAL D'NI ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE AND PARTY

A first meeting for the St. Pat’s Parade Planning Committee was held the past Saturday and was very productive. Presently we have 12 people who have volunteered to help plan the parade….six of those were able to attend. A chatlog of the meeting has been sent to those unable to attend. The committee members are:

SuperGram: Chairperson and Organizer of the event
Mari: Coordinator of all hoods and group who will be marching in the parade
Janine: Coordinator for all Promotions
T’layeh: Coordinator for all Promotions alongside with Janine
Kiterrah: Coordinator for Press and Photography
Adam: Technical Coordinator and Promotions
Anthony: Committee Member
Skellington98: Committee Member
gallentdreamer(Lanen): Committee Member
raider7: Committee Member
Jazmnbrze: Committee Member
joclyn: Committee Member

It was decided that the first order of business was to get the hoods and group who want to participate organized. To do that we will need someone willing to be a coordinator for each group or hood. Anyone interested in volunteering to coordinate a group or hood please PM Mari here. Now when I make the distinction between hood and group, I mean as an example you may want to:

1. March as a unit with a particular hood.
2. March with a particular guild you are a member of.
3. Get together with friends or members of a default hood as a marching unit (please give the group a name)

However you want to form a marching unit is okay, the more the better but they should consist of more than 5 marchers to a unit. Each unit should have a coordinator who will be in contact with the Parade Committee and will be given up to date information to pass along to the participating marchers in their unit. Once again please PM Mari or contact one of the committee members in cavern if you are interested in coordinating a hood or group.

Adam is presently in the process of creating a sign up sheet, which will be available shortly. When it’s ready he will post to this thread as to where you can go to find it.

In addition, anyone not interested in marching in the parade is welcomed to participate as a spectator. However, because of hood capacity, you will also need to sign up and Adam will tell you where to go to find that sheet.

Moving on…Vortmax has volunteered to take video of the event (thanks Vort), but we will need more people to take still pics and others to take video. If you are interested in participating in that capacity, please PM Kiterrah on the UruLive forum. Freelance photography is okay but there will be designated spots for those officially on the Press and Photography committee who will have been assigned the ideal spots for the best views. So please if you’re interested in helping in this way, PM Kiterrah or contact anyone on the committee in cavern.

We are hoping that once again we will be able to use Team Speak for music and sound. We are still in the process of looking for someone to Coordinate Music and Sound. I will ask Modi and LordChaos if they’d be interested in once again helping out. They’ve done a fantastic job in the past and it would be great having them on the team once again.

I have been in contact with BAD and he has assured me that the D’ni Honor Guard will once again be participating in this great event. Anyone interested in being part of the Honor Guard should PM BAD here, on Slackers forum or the UruLive forum. The Honor Guard is and elite and well trained unit that has done a great job in the past with many events. I believe BAD will be calling up his troops and recruiting in the near future. (Thanks BAD).

This year, like last year we will be marching through the hoods. Last year we asked for four volunteer host hoods: The German Real Life, The Guild of Greeters, The Meeting Place and the UO hood. This year, because of the population in UruLive, we will add an additional hood and I will ask The Great Tree along with the other four if they will graciously consent to allow us to use their hoods for the event. If any of the five hoods above would like to host their hood for the event, please PM me here. Depending on the interest and response, we may need to add another but I’ll wait until we see how the sign up goes. The Great Tree has graciously agree to be a hosting hood....hopefully all hoods who agreed to host last year will do the same this year.

The parade route has been modified some and Adam is in the process of lining out the route on the map which he will post when ready. Mari will do a run-through of the route with the group coordinators and once they have learned it they can take their group through practice.

Last but not least……Anyone interested in helping by joining the Parade Planning Committee, please PM me or contact any member of the committee in the cavern.

SO COME ONE…..COME ALL AND LET’S TOP LAST YEARS EVENT AND MAKE THIS THE GREATEST EVER………..

A meeting for the St. Pat's Parade and Party Committee has been scheduled for tomorrow, Staturday Jan. 27th at 1pm EDT in the St. Patrick's Parade Committee Bevin. All committee members are urged to attend if possible. It will be an open meeting and anyone interested in helping on the committee is welcomed to come and join up. Anyone just interested in learning what it's all about is also welcomed to attend and we will try to answer your questions.

From recent announcements, it's now clear that this years parade will be held in Uru Live following the official launch. It's going to be a great event and we are hoping everyone will participate in the fun as Marchers or Spectators. Those marching will need to practice as a group and sign up. Because of hood capacity.....spectators will also need to sign up. So far the UruObsession Bevin....The Great Tree Bevin....and The Institution Bevin have volunteered to host the parade through their hoods. I have not yet heard from the GoG, TMP or German Real Life Bevin's but it's my hope they will soon. Because time will not permit....we will limit the march through those 7 hoods. All other hoods and marching groups will be assigned to march with one of the hosting hoods and will need to practice with that particular hood. During the actual event we will have commentators assigned to make the announcement of each group as they march...so your hood will certaintly be recognized....smile.gif

We still need people to volunteer to act as coordinators to organize each hood into a marching unit and schedule practice. The parade route has changed a little bit from last year and I will take the committee for a run through the new route. This year we plan to include a march through the community room because it affords a really great place for spectators. However, because of lag issues, like last year, spectators will need to be spread out through the hood where there are also some excellent viewing spots.

SG

EDIT: I'm happy to announce that TMP has volunteered to be a host hood......

I'm happy to announce that the German NULP's Bevin has agreed to be a host hood for this years St. Pat's parade. Rima, George and Milli has graciously volunteered to be the coordinators for this years event. If you're interested in participating in the event as a marcher or spectator, please PM one of them and let them know.

I understand that there are several German hoods in UL and because of TimeZones I'm asking each of the other hoods who wish to participate to contact one of the above listed coordinators and make arrangements to sign up to march with and practice with the NULP Bevin. If you wish to march as your own hood along with the NULP please let us know so that the commentators during the event can announce you.

I'm including a copy of a map with the parade route and once again would like to thank Rima, George, Milli and all of my German friends for your participation in this great event.

BildANNOUNCEMENT: Rand Miller has once again graciously agreed to be our Grand Marshal and GreyDragon has agreed to be the Aide to the GM.....Some Cyanists will be attending but at this point I'm not sure who they will be. Bild3rd Annual D’ni St. Patrick’s Parade and Party
March 17th at 1pm EDT on MystOnline/UruLive

ONLY 12 DAYS LEFT

A parade committee meeting was held this past weekend, which was very productive. The items discussed are as follows:
· Sign-Up Sheet
· Spectators
· D’ni Guard Unit
· Music and Sound
· Video and Photography
· Dress Rehearsal
· Host Hoods made private during March
· Party Hosts and hoods

1. SIGN-UP SHEET: It’s only 12 days before the event and anyone wishing to participate is asked to please sign-up this week. If your hood wishes to participate, someone from that hood will need to coordinate march practice and find out who from your hood would like to march and who would like to be a spectator. You’ll also need to decide which host hoods you’d like to march in and let us and the Host Hood know. Hood coordinators are asked to contact AdamJohnso on the UO forum with your UserName, Password and KI number. Adam will activate the account for you and once you’ve signed- up you can add those people who will be marching with your hood. Once Adam has activated your account you can sign up here: http://stpats.hoikas.com/admin/ Click on Home Unit Manager, type in your UserName….Password and KI number and then add the marchers who will be marching with your hood.

2. SPECTATORS: Spectators will also need to sign-up because we’ll need to know how many people will be viewing the march and in which Host Hood. Spectators will be limited so not to overcrowd the hood and hinder those marching with lag. It’s important that you sign up this week so we can get a number before Dress Rehearsal next Saturday. There will be designated areas in each Host Hood for spectators so not to interfere with the parade route and cause lag to the marchers.

3. D’ni GUARD UNIT: MystOnline/UruLive is a new beginning, so this year we will be creating a new D’ni Guard Unit…TS_Kimball and J’mee will be heading up the new unit and are presently seeking recruits for the unit. Anyone interested in becoming a member of this elite Guard is asked to contact TSK or J’mee on the UO forum. We need 12 guardsmen for the parade and they will be responsible for escorting Rand and party during the parade. The plan is to have 2 guardsmen assigned to each of the six Host Hoods. At the conclusion of the march through each Host Hood the 2 guardsmen will link to the Parade Hood, which will be the finish line and help get people in place before Rand come in. Several names for the new Guard were suggested during the meeting such as: D’ni Color Guard….The Cavern Guard….The Guard…..D’ni Special Guard and others. I happen to like D’ni Color Guard but we will leave it up the Guard to decide on a name as well as their uniform. So if you’re interested in being a member of this elite unit, please contact the TSK or J’mee NOW as time is running out.
4. MUSIC and SOUND: Unfortunately Lord Chaos who’ll be supplying all music and sound for the event was unable to attend the meeting but there’s a chatlog available for him. It was initially planned to use both TeamSpeak and ShoutCast for the event but it was decided by an overwhelming vote at the meeting to use only TeamSpeak. The reason being that ShoutCast has a limit of how many people can sign into it and it’s necessary for everyone to hear the music during the march. It was also felt that without two computers it would be very confusing for coordinators to jump back and forth from TS to SC. Each Host Hood along with the Guard will set up special channels for communication with those marching in the hood. I will be coordinating from the main chat channel with the Host Hood coordinators. I’ll need to meet with LC and iron out some of the details involved. If you don’t have TeamSpeak you can find it here: http://www.goteamspeak.com
We have not yet determined what server will be used and will inform everyone as soon as we know.

5. VIDEO and PHOTOGRAPHY: To date only Vortmax and joclyn have volunteered to take pics and video during the event. It would be ideal to have at least one in each Host Hood for photography and we could use at least 4 more volunteers. Anyone interested……please contact me as soon as possible. As we all know Uru is more than just a game of Puzzles, Exploring and the Restoration by the DRC. It’s also about Community and the events and history in the community. Archiving the history through photography is an important service of those volunteers who take the time to take the pictures. So please if you are interested, come out and help.

6. DRESS REHEARSAL: In an effort to determine the amount of time it will take to march through all 6 Host hoods and end up at the finish line in the Parade Hood, the committee has decided to have a Dress Rehearsal next Saturday March 10th at 11am EST. We are asking all Host Hoods to try to be present and ready to march so we can get an approximate idea of how long the parade will take. We are also asking for as many spectators to be present as possible. Each hood should set up a proxy Rand and Greydragon so we can add the time it takes for them to link in. We also need to test if all hoods are listed on the nexus. Apparently there’s a limit of only 50 hoods on the nexus list and it could be problematic if the 6 Host Hoods and the Parade Hood disappear from the nexus. A hood member may need to toggle the hood status on the nexus. We will use TeamSpeak for the Rehearsal and each Host Hood is asked to let us know how long it took to complete the march through their particular hood.

7. HOODS MADE PRIVATE DURING MARCH: To decrease linkin freeze and lag during the march, each Host Hood is asked to have a volunteer at the nexus to make the hood private after Rand links in. The volunteer should be given enough time to link back to the hood before the march begins. Once the march through that hood is concluded the hood will be made public once again. Host Hood coordinators will send Rand and party invites to their hood, in the event that they crash. All others including marchers who crash are asked to please not link back in if they are hood members and anyone who crashes are asked to go to the Parade hood. I’m sure everyone can understand what the linkin freeze will do to those marching so please be on your honor.

8. PARTY HOSTS AND HOODS: Mari has volunteered to host the Parade Hood with will be used as the main Reception and Party hood. She has also volunteered to cater the entire event and will be posting her menu shortly. I got a look at it and it looks yummy…All are welcomed to come and enjoy. All hoods are encouraged to party in their own hood if they wish, and hood hopping it also encouraged.

SO COME ONE….COME ALL….GET OUT THE GREEN AND GET READY TO CELEBRATE AND HAVE SOME FUN…..

The menu for the St. Pat’s parade is an authentic Irish fare.
We are doing a “round robin” or

Progressive Dinner

As I get the menus created for each hood, I will post them for your enjoyment

Bild
Hors D’oeuvres in NULP Hood
Irish Rarebit served on wheaten bread points and grilled
Salmon & clotted cream on Boxty (potato pancakes)
Dublin Bay Prawns with Cocktail Sauce
Small Meat Pies with horseradish dipping sauce
Spiced Soda Bread
Ginger Beer (kind of like Root Beer)
Irish Whisky
Black Velvet (½ champaign, ½ Guinness)
All food will be prepared and delivered ahead of time and ready to set out after the parade. A keg of Guinness and Ginger Beer and a case of Bailey’s Irish Cream and Irish Whisky is scheduled to be delivered to each hood, if you feel you will need more, please let me know early enough to get it ordered.

Please feel free to visit all of the hoods and enjoy a complete Irish meal. Non alcoholic beverages will be supplied in each hood. Ginger Beer is a Root Beer type drink and will be available in all hoods. I have tried to come up with an enjoyable selection to choose from, eat hearty. I do not like left overs and will not be crating this food back up to store so you will have to eat it all.

IMPORTANT CHANGE: DRESS REHERSAL BEGINNING TIME HAS BEEN CHANGED TO 12 noon EST TOMORROW SATURDAY MARCH 10TH

St. Pat’s Parade Dress Rehearsal

Dress Rehearsal will be tomorrow, Saturday March 20th beginning at 12noon.EST. The order of marching and
the time has been changed because I was informed that The Meeting Place Hood has many members from the West Coast and to have them march in the beginning would be difficult for those from that area. I understand that the Great Tree also has many members from the West Coast. I would like to allow those from Europe to march first because of the Time Zone they live under. So the marching order will be as follows….

1. The German NULP Hood
2. The Institution Hood
3. Uru Obsession Hood
4. GameBoomers Hood
5. The Great Tree Hood
6. The Meeting Place Hood

Mari and I will act as Rand and GreyDragon and will link in and be met by the Guardsmen and will take the Grand Marshal’s and Aide’s place leading the parade. Everyone should be in position and prepared to march when Mari and I link in. Once there a hood member should be prepared to go to the nexus and make the hood private. Though it might be a good idea to test the link in lag during the March practice and not make the hood private. The Guardsmen will be at the foot of the right staircase prepared to meet Mari and I as we link in. They will salute and come to the link in spot and escort us up the stairs to the front of the parade and take their spot behind us.

Hood Coordinators are asked to time the March and Mari and I will time the linkin’s. Hood Coordinators are also asked to take a head count (including Spectators). We will need to get an approximate time the entire parade will take.

I had hoped that we could run through on TeamSpeak but Eric is setting up a new server and it’s not ready as yet. He is also setting up IceCast to stream music during the march. J’nathus has replaced Lord Chaos (who’s time is limited and he’s unable to make meetings or the rehearsal). J’nathus will be working with Eric to get this all set up…Fingers and toes crossed. Apparently Ashtar’s server doesn’t have enough bandwidth for this event. His ShoutCast will only allow for about 50 people to listen in. Hopefully this will go well but for the Dress Rehearsal we will be without music. Sorry about this inconvenience.

As each hood completes their March…they should link to the Parade hood and line up on the bridge to the bookroom. I’d like to test capacity of that finish line hood and determine what kind of lag Rand and GreyDragon will experience linking in. Once Mari and I link in and get to the pedestal platform, everyone should move to the community room where Rand will address everyone.

NOTE: We may need someone to toggle the hoods to keep them public so those who are not members are able to link in.

Good Luck and Thank You One and All
