der Versuch einer Übersetzung (vielleicht ein bisschen holprig ):

Wir, die Spieler von URU Live, hätten gern die Möglichkeit unsere eigenen URU Live Server zu entwickeln und zu betreiben. Dafür fordern wir dass ihr die Quellcodes der URU live Server technologie als Open-Source Projekt frei gebt, so dass die von uns welche das Fachwissen zum Programmieren, entfehlern und zum betreiben von servern haben URU Live weit in die Zukunft geniesen können.
Durch die Freigabe der software als Open_Source stellt ihr nicht nur die Zukunft von URU Life sicher, sondern profitiert sicher von den Verbesserungen die für die Technologie gemacht werden. In URU Live ging es um eine Gemeinschaft, also bitte, lasst die Kommunitx sich selbst erhalten und gebt uns eine Gelgenheit es zum Laufen zu bringen.

ob die das wirklich machen, den sourcecode preisgeben. das glaube ich nicht. der sourcecode ist die essenz eines spieles und den gibt nie ein programmierer raus. das ist sein heiligtum. aber hab trotzdem die petition unterzeichnet.

Also die Idee klingt im ersten Moment fantastisch, habe allerdings auch meine Zweifel ,wie Carlos.

Aber ein Versuch würde ich auf jeden Fall starten.

Denn wie heißt es so schön:
"Der Versuch macht klug"

Also bitte alle teilnehmen.
Wenn sogar versprochen wird den Code zu verbessern, kann Cyan nur gewinnen, da Entwicklungsarbeit gespart wird.

Der Server-Code wird, wenn überhaupt, erst in Jahren freigegeben werden können. Deiser Code war nie dafür vorgesehen in anderen Händen als denen von Cyan zu sein. Es wäre ein beträchtlicher Aufwand nötig, den in eine Form zu bringen, die veröffentlicht werden könnte. Dieses Aufwand kann sich Cyan zurzeit nicht leisten. Sie müssen sich auf neue Einnahmequellen konzentrieren (d.h. die Expansion Packs).

Ich bin auch nicht davon überzeugt, dass das der richtige Weg wäre. Immerhin spricht Cyan davon, dass Uru Live "schlafen geht". Sie sagen nicht, dass Uru Live beendet oder gestorben ist. Für mich ist das ein Zeichen dafür, dass Cyan die Hoffnung für ein "wiedererwachtes" Uru Live nicht aufgegeben hat. Wenn aber der Server-Code für Uru Live freigegeben wird, dann haben sie die Basis für ein Geschäftsmodell, mit dem Uru Live betrieben und finanziert werden könnte, aus der Hand gegeben.

was anderes wollte ich mit meinem post nicht sagen. du hast den nagel auf den kopf getroffen. aber ich finde es trotzdem einen versuch wert und es sind ja auch nur ein paar clicks zur unterschrift dieser petition.

mir geht es damit eigentlich auch mehr darum ihnen zu zeigen, dass wir uru nicht sterben lassen werden - auch wenn sie uns diesen ode nicht geben und dass wir hinter ihnen und ihre projtekt stehen!

Durch die Mithilfe eines sehr netten und hilfsbereiten Forumsmitgliedes (der nicht namentlich genannt werden möchte) ist die Übersetzung des Briefes an Cyan nun gelungen. Jetzt sind die Leute, die des englischen mächtig sind, gefragt. Lest bitte mal Korrektur. Danke.

completely perplexed we had to learn about the ending of URU-Live. Most of us experienced more than just a game with URU, it has been a step forward, URU prepared the path to a new dimension! In this realistic worlds, the comprehension of team spirit and comradeship found their way back to the anonymity of gaming worlds. Barriers of real life have been raised and a global community grew, unique, without regard to borders, religion, age and sex. The members did not stop with their ambitions to help each other with the game content. Sorrows, troubles and also the joy of the everyday life have been divided. There had been handicapped friends among us and URU-Live had been their first chance to be able to move around free, go where and meet who they want. Even if only virtually, it have been courage and joy of life which have been given back to them. All these humans have on thing in common, they have been hit hard by the news. Did you foresee what you create with URU-Live, ever before you opened the caves?

Bulletin Boards have been founded, to give the communities a chance to "survive", to interact and to wait, for URU-Live to continue. We have a wish! If it has been the missing amount of players to keep Live alive, let us spread the spirit to the world. Let us tell them about the caves, let us help! This community, the German URU Reallife Community, wants to use self-designed fanart. We want to print pics and messages on T-Shirts, to tell the world, what they got to know. Coffee cups, likewise stickers at our cars, shall explain who we are real: Explorers to D'ni! Just to keep the lost civilization unforgotten, we ask you to allow us to take URU-Live motives for this non-commercial campaign, limited to our community of 150 members. As long as we will keep it up, URU is alive. We want to help, so let us have our way.
Maybe, the ending still has not been written!
