ANNOUNCEMENT: From Myst to UrU Live w/ CyanWorlds CEO Rand Miller

SPECIAL NOTE: As of this posting only a morning meeting has been confirmed, as we are not sure if Rand Miller will be able to attend two meetings on this day.

Shorah Explorers! We are please to announce a special Town Hall meeting. This time our honored guest will be Rand Miller, CEO of CyanWorlds. In this meeting we will have Rand discuss his hopes and dreams for UrU Live, what is his driving force, what are his future plans for CyanWorlds and what he would like to see happen for his company. His views on UrU and the Myst series, etc.

Please submit any questions you may have via PM on the DRC Site to any of the Liaisons and we will do are best to get them answered for you. As usual, the format will be for the first half of the meeting to answer pre-submitted questions. Then for the second half of the meeting we will open the floor for questions. Please remember that if you have a question during the open floor portion, that you need to PM the appointed Liaison with "QUESTION" and you will then be added to the queue. We ask that you please have your question ready (typed out) so that when your name is called we can avoid any delays.

The new format for this and all future meetings is that we ask that all attending explorers and guests to please STAND during the meeting. We also ask that you do not use your KI if you can avoid it. We are doing our best to find any and all methods to ensure a "stable" environment for all attending and to avoid any crashing or vanishing of explorers and our guests. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this.

ADDENDUM: We still have not been able to confirm an evening meeting with Rand Miller, though we have decided that if Rand can not attend the evening meeting we would love to have you all join us for an impromptu Town Hall meeting with us ... your DRC Liaisons. This is your chance to ask us questions about who we are, what are roles have been like, how we feel about our positions and what our future ideas for the remainder of our term are. We have 4 out of 5 Liaisons confirmed for this event.

I'm very sorry to have to announce this, but something has come up and the Town Hall with Rand needs to be postponed by 24 hours. It will now be held on Tuesday, July 18, at 9am Cavern Time.

Bei diesem Treffen wird Rand seine Hoffnungen und Träume für Uru Live erläutern, was seine antreibende Kraft ist und was er sich für seine Firma wünscht. Seine Sicht auf Uru, die Myst Reihe, usw.

Bitte gebt alle Fragen, die ihr habt, über die DRC Site per PM an eine der Liaisons weiter und wir werden uns bemühen, sie beantwortet zu bekommen. Wie sonst auch, wird die erste Hälfte des Meetings dafür verwendet, eingesandte Fragen zu beantworten. Die zweite Hälfte des Meetings ist dann offen für Fragen vor Ort. Bitte denkt daran, dass ihr, wenn ihr eine Frage während des zweiten Teils habt, die dafür bereitgestellte Liaison mit „QUESTION“ ansprecht; ihr werdet dann der Warteliste hinzugefügt. Wir bitten darum, die Frage bereit zu halten (schon eingetippt zu haben), so dass wir Verzögerungen vermeiden können, wenn ihr aufgerufen werdet.

Mist, ich wollte da sein, aber hab's vor lauter Lernen vergessen :(

Kann jemand den Log posten? Nimmt mich wunder, was Rand so gesagt hat. Vor allem, wieso das Meeting um 1 Tag verschoben wurde.

Wow 93 Leute. Aber das Meeting war scheinbar nicht sonderlich interessant. Hatte mehr erwartet.

Beta Test:
Wann wird die Beta anfangen und wie kann ich teilnehmen?
David Reid: Das Uru Live geschlossene (also nicht öffentlich/für jedermann zugängig wie Uru Prologue vor zwei Jahren - Anm. d. Übers.) Beta Programm beginnt nächste Woche. Zunächst wird eine kleine Gruppe von Forschern eingeladen und dann werden regelmäßig zusätzliche Gruppen hinzukommen, in der Reihenfolge, wie man sich zur Beta angemeldet hat. Falls man sich noch nicht für die Beta registriert hat, kann man dies unter http://www.urulive.com tun.

Muss man ein Kunde von GameTap sein um bei der Beta mitzumachen?
David Reid: Nein. Die einzige Anforderung für die Zulassung an der Beta ist die Reihenfolge in der man sich angemeldet hat.

Uru Live:
Wird man Uru Live kostenlos ausprobieren können?
David Reid: Ja, es wird einen kostenlosen Erprobungszeitraum geben um Freunden, die interesse daran haben könnten, zu ermöglichen das Spiel auszuprobieren.
Nachtrag von Quin: Der kostenlose Zugang, der bei Town Hall Meeting angesprochen wurde, wird ein inhaltlich begrenzter aber zeitlich unbegrenzter Zugang sein.
Interessierte, die keine monatlichen Gebühren zahlen (wollen), können sich mit zahlenden Forschern sooft und solange sie wollen an einigen öffentlichen Plätze (z.B. in den Gemeinden) treffen, aber ihr Zugang wird auf diese Bereiche beschränkt sein und sie können nicht alles erforschen.


Werde ich in den USA GameTap und Uru Live für dieselbe monatliche Abokosten bekommen?
David Reid: GameTap und Uru Live werden beide für 9,95 USD pro Monat in den USA erhältlich sein.

Werden Uru Spieler, die über GameTap Uru Live spielen, genau denselben Spielanfang (Eröffnungsrede von Atrus, etc.) spielen wie Until Uru Spieler?
Rand Miller: Ohne allzuviel verraten zu wollen, nein. Uru Live wird ein wenig anders Anfangen.

Kannst du uns einen Hinweis geben, wo wir Anfangen werden zu spielen?
Rand Miller: Zu Hause. ;)

Werden wir gleich zu Anfang von Uru Live neue Welten zu sehen bekommen?
Rand Miller: Keine neuen Welten sofort am Anfang von Uru Live. Aber es wird ein paar Überraschungen geben wenn wir vorwärts kommen. Der beginn von Uru Live ende dieses Jahres wird nur dazu sein, dinge wieder ans laufen zu bekommen.

Ist geplant, Welten zu veröffenltichen, wenn auch nur einzelne, die man offline Erforschen kann?
Rand Miller: Nein. Wir wollen die volle Kontrolle! :)

Wird Uru Live kleine Mini-Games, so wie die Gahreesen Wand oder Heek, etc.?
Rand Miller: Uru Live wird ständig erweitert werden, also wird es auch Dinge wie die Wand und andere "Game"-Welten geben wenn wir über der Start von Uru-Live hinaus gekommen sind.

Wieviele Spiele werden Zeitgleich ohne "Lag" spielen können?
Rand Miller: Wir lassen es euch nach der beta wissen... aber das ist verständlicherweise ein Sache die bei uns oberste Priorität hat.

Werden sich die USA und Europa denselben Spiele-Server teilen?
Blake Lewin: Momentan, ja. Wenn wir durch die beta durch sind, werden wir sehen, ob es Leistungs-Probleme gibt die wir durch lokale Server beheben können.

Wird es zwischen dem momentanen Uru und dem zukünftigen Uru Live eine wahrnehmbare Veränderung, Grafisch oder sonstwie, geben?
Rand Miller: Nein, keine unterschiede in der Grafik. Wir arbeiten aber an der allgemeinen performance (Leistung) vom Spiel.

Es wurde veröffentlicht, dass Uru Live "by the holidays" starten wird, für die Europäer: wann genau ist das?
David Reid: Entschuldigt bitte die Verwirrung, es ist die Weihnachtszeit gemeint.

Die Partnerschaft mit GameTap:
Wie kann ich GameTap Abonnieren und dabei zeigen, das ich dies nur wegen Uru Live tue?
David Reid: Es gibt ein besonderes Angebot, auf der urulive.com Seite, worüber man GameTap Abonnieren kann und den ersten Monat gratis bekommt. Ich weiß, dass es für viele von euch wichtig ist zu zeigen, dass ihr Uru unterstützt, dies ist ein Weg dies zu tun. (Nur für Anwohner in den USA)

Wie kann ich meine Unterstützung für Uru Live zeigen, wenn ich schon GameTap Kunde bin?
David Reid: Wenn du schon ein GameTap Abo hast, schicke GreyDragon eine eMail und wir werden sicherstellen, das auch deine Stimme zu diejenigen gezählt wird, die GameTap nur wegen Uru Live Abonniert haben um Cyan zu unterstützen.

Habt ihr abschätzen, was für ein Geschäftsvolumen Uru GameTap bringen wird?
David Reid: Es sollte offentsichtlich sein, das wir in die Kraft der Uru Live Community glauben. Und wir sind mit diese Partnerschaft mit Cyan nicht nur eingegangen, weil wir das Spiel lieben sondern auch, weil wir die Gelegenheit sehen GameTap zu einem Ort zu machen in dem die Welt Spiele finden kann wie Uru Live, die es sontswo nicht gibt. Wir wissen, dass ihr eine starke Gemeinschaft seid, mit mehreren Tausend Anhängern, die noch nicht mal ein komplettes Spiel haben (Until Uru). Wir bei GameTap hoffen, dass ihr eure Leidenschaft für das Spiel Uru Live bündeln werdet um GameTap zu einem Ort zu machen an dem wir nicht nur die Unterstützung des Spiels Uru Live erleben werden, sondern auch für unsere größere Vision: Spiele für millionen von Spielern in aller Welt zu veröffentlichen. Wie wird Werbung für Uru Live dieses mal gehandhabt werden? Es schien ein ausgeprägter Mangel an Werbung für Uru das letze mal zu herschen, insbesondere ausserhalb der US.
David Reid: Um unsere Philosophie zu verdeutlichen: Ich persönlich komme aus der Spielkonsolen Welt (habe an der veröffentlichung der Xbox 360 mitgearbeitet bevor ich vor ein paar Monaten zu GameTap gestossen bin), und ich sehe GameTap wie eine
Plattform für Spiele, genauso wie die Xbox oder die Playstation. Und ich sehe Uru Live wie einen kritischen, exklusiven Titel den unsere Plattform anch vorne bringen wird. Wir können noch keine Details über die Werbekampagne veröffentlichen, aber ich verspreche euch das wir einige interessante Pläne haben um Uru Live, Sam & Max und noch weiter Spiele die zu Weihnachten über GameTap veröffenlticht werden zu bewerben. Wir wissen, das niemand eine Spielkonsole kaufen wird, wenn es für sie keine guten Spiele gibt, die es für andere nicht gibt. Und wir wissen, dass für euch, und viele andere wie euch GameTap eine Konsolen-ähnliche Erfahrung sein wird, über die von Kritikern gefeierte Spieletitel veröffenlticht werden, die es sonst nirgends gibt. Diese Geschichte werden wir der Welt erzählen, wenn Uru Live und weitere Spiele dieses Jahr zu Weihnachten starten werden.
Blake Lewin: Ich möchte auch noch etwas über Uru Live und GameTap hinzufügen. Wir haben GameTap von beginn an als Breitband-Netzwerk aufgebaut. Und wie ein Bezahlfernsehn (wie Arena oder Premiere in Deutschland - anm. d. Übers.) sind wir auf der Suche nach hochkarätigen Inhalt, den nur wir Anbieten. Wenn man Uru Live mit einen Piloten einer Fernsehserie vergleicht, dann werden wir in Abhängigkeit von dessen Erfolg zusätzliche "Staffeln" finanzieren können. Deswegen wird eure Unterstützung auch für den zukünftigen Erfolg von Uru Live wichtig bleiben.

Da GameTap auch einige andere ältere Spieletitel anbietet, werden eventuell auch alte Cyan Spiele wie "Cosmic Osmo" über GameTap veröffenlticht?
David Reid: Wir haben tatsächlich auch eingie Neuigkeiten von dieser Seite. Für's erste werde ich einfach mal mit "ja" Antworten. Ihr solltet wissen, das zusätzlich zu den Spielen (z.b. Myst, Riven, Uru Ages Beyond Myst) die es jetzt schon auf GameTap gibt, werden wir auch in Zukunft weitere Cyan Spieletitel über GameTap veröffentlichen.

Uru International:
Wird Uru Live auch in anderen Ländern erhältlich sein?
David Reid: Ja. Beide, also die umsonst und die Abonnierprodukte werden auch ausserhalb der USA erhältlich sein.

Wie werden internationale Forscher Uru Live Abonnieren können?
Blake Lewin: Unser Ziel ist es, den "umsonst" Uru Client weltweit über Uru Live verfügbar zu machen. Internationale Spieler werden dann die Möglichkeit haben direkt über Uru Live (kostenpflichtig) zu spielen. In den USA wird Uru Live mit GameTap gebündelt sein.

Wird man GameTap und Uru Live auch ausserhalb der USA für denselben Preis bekommen?
David Reid: Noch haben wir kein GameTap ausserhalb der USA, aber sobald wir GameTap in anderen Ländern veröffenltichen werde, werden Uru Live Abonnenten diesen Dienst selbsverständlich auch "für umsonst" erhalten.
